Salty Jaw Charters has been plugging along and catching some nice fish around Manasota key and Boca Grande. Lots of nice trout are jump ing on the line with a few redfish and snook as well. Out in the Gulf of Mexico we’ve been catching a few triple tail along with lots of sheepshead and snapper.
Tarpon season is booking up fast for May and June so gets some days on the calendar to chase the mighty diver king.

Had the pleasure of fishing with long time client and friend Russ Bayner on his 80th birthday this year. We got into some smaller triple tails while breaking in my new motor along the beaches of Manasota Key. Lots of great fishing to be had this winter in between the cold fronts chasing grouper, mackerel, snappers, sheepshead in the Gulf of Mexico. We’re seeing decent numbers of redfish, snook and spotted seatrout in and around the backcountry of Charlotte Harbor as well.
The fishing has been on fire big schools of redfish have paraded into charlotte harbor making for some rod bending insanity. The mangrove snapper,snook and trout fishing are fallowing suit with lots of action on the right tides.
Before long cooler temperatures will be bringing kingfish, cobia and some others close to our shores off of Boca Grande. So don’t hesitate call us and get a trip in the books to bend some rods! Capt. Snook and spotted sea trout has been good along with Tarpon if your looking for something big to tug on. Salty Jaw Charters has been laying the smack down on some great fish this week as people pour into Florida for the chance a catching a trophy fish. The fishing in the backcountry shallows has remained on fire seeing 50-60 fish on half day charters. The Gulf of Mexico has Been decent catching sheepshead, Spanish mackerels and a few sharks mixed in from time to time. With tarpon season starting in about a month now is the time to get booked to chase the mighty silver king around the bay.
Fishing has been on to say the least around Boca Grande and Manasota Key. Lots of snook and nice trout in the back waters of Charlotte Harbor with some pompanos mixed in once and awhile. The mackerels have started to show up along the beaches and in the harbor as the water temperatures steadily head in the right direction. Tarpon season is coming fast and is right around the corner so get you a spot before it all fills up.
The weather has been spectacular here in southwest Florida hanging out in the upper 70s most the week. The fish have been fired up with the warmer temps catching good numbers of trout and redfish in the back waters. The Gulf of Mexico has provide good action on snappers, sheepshead and triple tails around Boca Grande and Manasota key. As we start to have some nice weather cool us off in southwest Florida we begin to see some different species arrive. We’re starting to see Kingfish and Spanish mackerel show up around Boca Grande, Charlotte Harbor and Manasota key.
For the next couple of months the Gulf of Mexico will provide lots of action between sharks, mackerel and tripletail. Capt. Lots of big schools of redfish are still in the area and if you can find them your day will be epic. The snook fishing around Manasota key and Boca Grande is still on fire along with trout and big Jacks. In the next month with cooler temperatures we should see bunches of king and Spanish mackerel around Manasota key and Boca Grande.
